Morna was designed By Peter S. Dickie and built in the yard of A.M.Dickie & sons in Tarbert, Lough Fynne, Argyle, Scotland.
Originally built for Gordon Sillars of Shandon Place in Helensborough she was launched in the May of 1920.
Shortly after launching in May 1939, Morna broke free from her moorings in Ballyholme bay and was washed up on the beach.
She was filled with sandbags and holes were drilled in her hull in order that she would remain undamaged on the sea bed until the tide was suitable to refloat her.
